The website for this movie says that it is loosly based on a true story; however, I cannot find anything about the real story. Anybody know? Tried Google

To what extent I guess is the question?

Is it possible that a 14 year old ran the Boston Marathon in 195X? Sure. Is it possible his mom was sick? Yes.

NO SPOILER BECAUSE I HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE.

If he wins in the movie, then no it is not a true story.

yea it's a true story, based on St Michael's College School in toronto. aka The Hockey School, with teh OHL hockey team, The Majors. They also have a killer football team, always wins the metrobowl, and then the track team hasnt lost a TDCAA championship in 25 years... st ralph has it's roots in a sports private school. teh writer of the story is also a grad from st mike's as well.

No! Saint Ralph is not a true story. My son Adam is the star of Saint Ralph. I have personally asked the director Mike McGowan and he told me that it is completely fictional. Read his own words here.

The part that gave it away for me that it wasn't true was when a 14 year old comes in 2nd place at Boston. The other part was when he ran twenty 20 mile repeats all under 5:00, and the last one in 4:25. Being a runner, I know these two things don't happen with 14 year old kids. But it was a good movie. I liked it.

The deer is to blame.
