Could someone explain to me how we have a kid with an Irish accent in Canada???
shareIt wasn't an Irish accent, it was a Canadian accent (didn't you hear the oots)? But, having an Irish accent wouldn't be unheard of (um, immigration?), especially in the 1950s. I was actually surprised one of the priests wasn't Irish, though. Seems like there was always at least one Irish priest in the rectory.

My ancestors migrated from Ireland to Canada, and then to the US during WWI. Plus, didn't he say that his grandparents were in Ireland?
shareThere are hundreds of regional accents in Canada. Try a trip to Newfoundland or Cape Breton some time.
