crap like this only works when its a true story

example: RUDY.

i just dont see the point in getting emotionally invested in (or inspired by) someone else's made-up gibberish.

This is great little movie about faith and how ordinary people deal with things like belief and faith in their lives...the fact that it isn't based on a true story is inconsiquential. Rocky was not a "true story" it was fictional and that was one of the great films. Saint Ralph uses the Boston Marithon as it's back drop for a it's story but it's a story about so many other things.

congratulations on being a simpleton and a sissy. this movie blows and if you can't see that then throw yourself in front of a bus because you're hopeless.

Wow, you're a little bitch. . .

I thought this was a great movie, my friend and I watch a different movie each week during advisory at school, and when he brought in this film I wasn't expecting much. I quickly became addicted, having to wait for the next day's class to watch. Very interesting main character (Who as sad as it is, I can relate to him xD)

That said, this movie reminded me of a youth version of Chariots of Fire. The movie was well written, well acted, and actually suprised me. I expected far less when I first started watching the movie.

I'm not sure if we watched the same movie. The "Saint Ralph" I watched was poorly written and poorly acted. On top of that, the majority of Character were terribly cliche'd. The cinematography was good. The acting by the love interest and some of the adult was good. The acting of the kids was not that good. I looked forward to seeing this movie but was very disappointed.

I guess you only watch DOCUMENTARIES and those that are certified as being true and not falsified!

What on earth leads anyone to believe that any movie, based upon a true story or not is factually sound?

Movies are for entertainment, whether they be based upon a true story or not, I guess you never sat down to watch ALIENS or E.T., those were most assuredly not based on true stories, however if you can watch either without getting emotionally invested at some point and letting yourself go with the story then you need to stop watching movies immediately.

This movie is worth checking out if you are looking for a heartwarming, sometimes funny and yes, at times even a bit vulgar, but all the while it is honest and thought provoking.

I liked seeing Gordon Pinsent again, I think the last time I really noticed him was as Constable Benton Fraser's Dad or the Ghost in Due South, one of my favorite television shows.

i love running, too bad i don't love this movie.
If I want inspiration I'll go read RunnersWorld.com or something
It just didn't do it for me. I liked the character and some of the lines but the situation didn't do it for me... I don't know, something just wholly unappetizing about religious movies to me.

reply

It's sad that you can't get over the religous element of this movie and just enjoy it's other charming elements. I found it very inspiring.

Yep, same here, these people are portrayed to be all cute and fuzzy cuddly, but in real life they've been all the opposite. This film could almost pass for a religious propaganda movie. Making the headmaster out to be real "hard" but with a good heart, showing father H. being so 'questioning' as if religious people spent much time ever using their brain for that function, more than likely his little buddy was giving head and his PA stunt would have been a rebellion for the hell of religious schooling! The most ridiculous religious line in the film was "Basilians aren't supposed to run."

***So I've seen 4 movies/wk in theatre for a 1/4 century, call me crazy?**

Rudy was about 75 percent fiction.
