Is Prince of Persia(2008) a remake/re-imagining/r eboot of this?

The new Prince of Persia is completely different from the Sands of Time trilogy. The main character isn't even a Prince. The game features a new fighing system and a whole bunch of new moves. The game is great, however it has NOTHING to do with the last games. Plus you actually have a girl sidekick who ACTUALLY helps you and doesn't shoot you with arrows!
I feel that a ducks opinion of me is influenced on whether or not I have bread.
