I Can't Bounce Up To Get The Dagger Of Time, And I Don't Know Why...

It says to jump from wall to wall multiple times to get up there (one of the walls is the side of the giant statue's head), and I can't do it! Sometimes I'll get two or three jumps up, but a lot of the time he'll just drop down when he hits the next wall from the first bounce. I'm pressing the 'A' button and everything! Game completion: 2%, I'd hate to have to leave it here...

Maybe my technique on the direction thumbstick is incorrect or something (I'm playing it on xbox).

Don't worry I've done it now, I got some advice to hit 'A' just before/as the Prince hits the walls.
