6/10 stars? Why?

I rented and watched this movie on Netflix a few days ago, and I don't see why it got 6/10 stars on imdb. It wasn't that great in my opinion. This movie was not scary, considering that it was a horror movie. I was never once scared in this movie what so ever. In fact, 70% of the time I actually chuckled and laughed because it wasn't scary because it was dumb. One of my biggest fear is zombies from "Dawn of the Dead" and Jason Voorhees from "Friday the 13th" for god sake. Those 2 movies were frightening, scary, and it ranked the greatest horror movie ever made. I just thought this movie was dumb and stupid. Here are some problems in this movie.

Character - They are a plot device. They do whatever the plot tells them to do. Especially for the girl (Ako), and the twins. Also Ako doesn't do so much in the movie. She just b****ing and moaning for most of the movie. Also twin doesn't speak or do anything, because they are plot device. The main character Teru's acting was HORRIBLE in my opinion, and I still don't understand why he was nominated and won an awards for best actor. In one scene he was whimpering like a cry baby when one of the guy try to shoot him. I actually laughed, because it was so stupid. He's a main character for pete sake. That would be like if Peter from Dawn of the Dead, was acting like a cry baby when the zombie surrounds him. Instead of shooting them or commit suicide, he just cry.

Plot - Teru and Ako try to get home in Tokyo........ where everywhere else is in ruin and covered in ash!!! What makes them think that it is safe to go back to Tokyo in a world full of people acting like a zombies!!!

Special Effect - The special effect in this movie was pathetic, considering the fact that this movie was made in 03. I have seen better effect in Pirates of the Caribbean and Matrix Reloaded. Also the volcano effects was horrible. I have seen better effects in Volcano and Dante's Peak.

Last note - I'm not a huge hard-core fan of horror movie, and I don't know if hard-core horror movie fans out there think it is a good movie, but for me I think this was a bad movie in general. I would rate this movie 2.5/10 stars.

Well if you thought it was going to be a horror movie then you would be disappointed mainly because if anything its a SF film, and imo one of the bleakest end of days ive seen

I agree. It's up there with The Road (book and film) in terms of bleakness.
