What happened to Agnes? (Spoilers)

The entire "Agnes" story line lost me. I was a bit surprised that Sugar would encourage her to leave knowing it would likely lead to her death, but I can see her thinking that was preferable to institutionalization. But the body they found had long hair, and Agnes had cut all of her hair off before leaving for the train station. So what happened to Agnes?

I think we're meant not to know what became of her. It seems that's exactly what the film makers were trying to do. Much like the way we're left wondering what will happen to Sugar, Sophie, and William.

In my imagination she made it to, not the imaginary convent, but a real one. Sugar knew most towns have one and so told Agnes to ask anyone for the nearest convent and she'd be helped. "Don't take no for an answer."
