Oddly polite roast

Am I alone in thinking this roast seemed to be the most polite one so far? I mean sure there were a lot of jokes aimed at people and there was some swearing but a lot of the people just seemed like they were trying to be caring, hell I don't think Jeff Garlin made one offensive joke throughout the whole show and he was the roastmaster.

Seriously compare this roast to the roasts of Pam Anderson, Will Shatner and David Hasselhoff and you'll see what I see, an oddly polite roast that I was barely able to laugh at

Yeah very much so. Not all that funny either. Leary was one of the firsts. Once Comedy Central hit their stride with Lisa Lampinelli, Jeff Ross, and the late Roast God Greg Giraldo they got very raunchy and hilarious. If you have seen any of the Fryers Club Roasts on Comedy Central you know they are only mildly racey and fairly "Har har" in the jokes category. The Leary roast was riding that bubble in the middle.

Tough times don't last. Tough people do.

agreed. this roast sucked. I watched every roast from pam anderson, hasselhoff, flavor flav, donald trump, saget, larry the cable guy, joan rivers but this roast seriously sucked. hope the shatner and jeff foxworthy roasts will be worth it.

It was actually the very first comedy central roast, so it makes sense that they didn't push it as far as more recent ones. But yes, it was more good natured then some!
