my two cents....

I've only seen about half of the DVD so far, but I feel I *have* to comment on it. I used to love Charlie's Angels when I was growing up. I can look back on the show now and see there were some decent episodes and some total drek - but I still enjoyed the show all in all. Everyone in this TV movie seems like such a cartoon. I'm not sure how much we're supposed to take seriously. I guess there are some grains of truth in there, but I'm willing to bet that a lot of liberties were taken as well. It doesn't really help that they have to keep throwing in jokes about TV hits that were pitched and shot down (America's Funniest Home Videos, American Idol, etc). Whatever.

I will say that I'm liking most of the actors. (I'm a scifi fan and I knew that Tricia Helfer and Ben Browder were in this. Didn't realize I'd see other folks I recognize from scifi, too.) I can only really speak for the actors playing Kate Jackson, Jaclyn Smith, Farrah Fawcett and Lee Majors - because I watched so much Charlie's Angels and Six Million Dollar Man growing up - but they look and sound *very* good in their roles.

Anyway, I'm going to watch the rest of the DVD eventually, but I'm disappointed that this isn't more of a serious story. There are moments in there, but there seems to be much more that's cartoony. I'm sorry if this is supposed to be the "real" story behind the show - but it doesn't come across that way to me. And I really wanted to like it because of the actors in it that I love.
