Are there any other artists/personalities who can soothe people like Bob Ross could? I love relaxing to the sounds of Bob Ross (lots of videos on YouTube, btw), and would like to know if there is anything else that compares to this.

shareI'm glad I'm not the only one! I taped a whole bunch of "Joy of Painting" episodes on VHS a few years back and pop that tape in every time I have a free weekend afternoon with nothing else to do. I've never even managed to see him finish the first painting. He's better than valium for me! That voice just knocks me out, and it's the best sleep ever. I sleep through the entire tape every time.
shareBob Ross is absolutely the most relaxing show ever on TV! I loved his show! Like others here, I too taped several of his shows just to watch them over and over. In a crazy stressful world, Bob would mellow me out faster than anything I've ever had! I would be happy to make it 1/2 of the way through his show before falling to sleep - also exactly like others here. It's not that I tried to go to sleep either. I just could not fight it - his relaxing and soothing voice and great ability to paint worlds of vision and color, relaxed me to the point of sleep fast! Even today, his shows have the same affect on me! He was truly gifted and blessed with an incredible talent. His personal commentaries on life and being happy, I have kept with me to this very day.
I would like to collect every single show possible. I have found some on bit torrent and some on limewire. I have seen some for sale from his company but sadly I can not afford to buy them. If I had the money, I would buy them all and show them to others that may not have ever had a chance to see his wonderful talent in action.
I am convinced that Bob was a gift from God himself. He is continuing his work long after his departure from this crazy mixed up world.
Honestly, I don't think I ever made it past the 15-minute mark in any of his shows! About the time he started putting snow on his mountain ("get a little roll of paint") I was off into dreamland. The closing music would wake me up and I'd wonder how the painting turned out. Bob was better than Ambien....and I mean that in a good way. Man, I miss JOP!
