European cinema same as Hollywood????

What I found surprising was the narrator's efforts to show that European cinema and Hollywood broke taboos and cinematic barriers at the same time, she twice says that both cinemas pushed envelopes at the same time, when anybody with even a slightest knowledge would know that European films have been decades ahead in tackling controversial topics and showing full frontals. Either the narrator does not know or did not have the guts to say that when Hollywood was trying to show a se xually charged atmosphere through cigarrettes, Europe was discussing and displaying in details all the taboo topics.
Even now Europe is miles ahead in both the craft of filmmaking and in not shying away under sheets.
Apart from this low point, the documentary chronicles the history and the changing world of Hollywood and social mores very well.
Although how much, if at all, both movies and society have moved away from the twisted morality remains open to question.
