Manson Family.

I'm just wanna ask cause,i've been wondering about charles manson. He's like american cultural phenomenon.very brave, radical and also..lunatic!

I'm not american but,i was notified this unique group from music or news. The one that make me very curious is :"was this group included "christian fundamentalism"?" they had very thick nuance of christian symbolism. or charles was just a "free-liberal person" who had a very strong influence that impacted lots of people?

How about Branch Davidians(david korresh's cult)?were they christian fundamentalism? i guess manson and mcveigh had a very strong but, also deadly ideology in their head.

reply

I seriously doubt that you could call the manson family Christian Fundamentalism or that they had a very thick nuance of christian symbolism. Other than the fact that Manson quoted the bible, but used it to his advantage.
Charlie was into the occult, he claims and uses God's name to back him up, but then goes around and claims he is Jesus, God, the Devil.

and he is NOT brave,

Ooo..thanks for the answer.cause,i was just amazed with the figure of manson pictured in US media as "The Savior Messiah" with the Manson crucifixed at the fornt page or other thing. Also mentioned he was a "Jesus Christ" or the "Fifth Angel" who wanted to rule the world. That's scary!

Anyway,in the other side,he more seemed like a one of the "liberated hippie group" in US.When Stress and depression attacked all the american young generation(the worst impacted of the exhausted cold war, especially in Vietnam)They had hallucination and delusional by their unhealthy lifestyle but, satisfy!

Hmm..i get it now!

there was and still is a small underground in the media that holds him up as a revolutionary. Back in the 60's it was undergound mags like Tuesday's Child, and other head shops that put him in a messiah like pose. but in general the US media paints him to be evil.

he was far from the hippie groups at the time. He even despised the name hippie, he called the family slippies, because they slipped through the cracks. he felt hippies just dropped out and didn't do anything against the establishment. he felt they were no better than the establishment. plus he was far more death prone than the hippies of the day, he preached flowers but not really.

reply

"hippies" and "slippies". was it a matter of title? i guess they had similiar ways:activities, lifestyle, etc.

They were OKAY with free sex and pre-marital sex life. They used drugs also. And they were against the law. Liberated but,self-confidence!

Don't you think?

reply

"Liberated but,self-confidence!"

I am not sure what you are meaning here.

reply

Sorry..i was in rush that day and english isn't may language.

Well, anyway, what i mean is:"They are Liberal(not "liberated") and (not"but") self-confidence which it means "narcisstic".People like them always have their "own world" with their "own rules".They don't care about law. They always believe with themselves than anybody.Whether it right or wrong, they aren't scared!

reply

I would say that describes manson pretty well...though I don't think you mean liberal.
