Who was the family member who gave the goods?

I don't remember the character in the movie but maybe it was supposed to be Danny DeCarlo?

It was Danny Decarlo, in real life he wasn't apart of the "family". He hung around Manson and his followers cause he like to party and sleep with the girls. And manson liked him around for protection. He was part of a biker gang.

Danny DeCarlo wasn't the one who gave up the Family. It was actually Kitty Lutesinger who inadvertently told the cops about Sadie Mae Glutz, then Sadie Mae Glutz, who's real name was Susan Atkins confessed that they were involved. She wouldn't repeat the confession on tape, though. She also bragged to several women in the jail about the murders. So, overall, it was Kitty who got the ball rolling, thank God. Imagine how many more people they would of murdered if they hadn't been caught.

Everyone keeps saying Danny DeCarlo, but that is way wrong. It was a culmination of people, including hard core family members. First of all, Susan Atkins ran her mouth off to several people in/out of jail, then she admitted their involvement to the cops, but wouldn't repeat her bragging when they wanted to record her. Leslie Van Houten also told the detectives when asked of their involvement and she told them that she had reason to believe some of the Family were involved in Tate. She giggled, of course when this happened, but wouldn't elaborate. Next up, Kitty Lutesinger, who ran away from Barker ranch with Stephanie Schram, because Manson was threatening to kill everyone. In more ways than one, Kitty is the one who got the ball rolling on Gary Hinman's murder. After that, the police were more than aware of these monsters and what they did. Danny DeCarlo came later. I, for one am very thankful they got caught. Just think of how the families of the victims were feeling not knowing who was responsible. The Manson Family were dangerous and needed to be locked away for life!
