Touching Evil US is pretty good, but ....

... the UK version is even better.

I didn't know about the original until after watching the US series, which I actually liked a lot.

The US version is a bit more slicked up; the lead is a flamboyant character with a lot of heart, the music is a lot like Tangerine Dream or Miami Vice, and the mood is like an 80s Michael Mann flick. Very good.

The UK version is grittier, less bells and whistles, but just really good storytelling and excellent acting. Robson Green is effortlessly, confidently excellent.

Although the UK version is practically a twin of a later series of Green, Wire in the Blood, another good one.

jmo, to those who liked this one, try the UK version too, and if you liked that, try Wire in the Blood too.

I just started watching the US version and it's interesting to hear people say it's a little too slick. Compared to other shows produced by the USA Network, particularly Burn Notice, the current show starring Jeffry Donovan, Touching Evil was extremely gritty and intense. Sadly there's little on in the US at the moment that's as interesting as this series.

I couldn't get through the UK version. Not a single episode.
I however, LOVED this version.

I watched the UK version on Netflix and I was somewhat bored with first episode, though I watched it to the end.

I then switched over to Waking the Dead and watched every episode available. I loved it! Can't wait for more episodes to become available.

Then I decided to give Touching Evil another shot (mainly because of Robson Green).. The second episode got me hooked.

Now I'm watching Wire In The Blood which Green switched over to when Touching Evil ended, but I may give the American version of Touching Evil a shot when I'm done.

I disagree, I've watched Touching Evil UK, the US version and Wire in the Blood. Of the two Touching Evils I think the US version is far more intriguing, I prefer Donovan's Creegan to Greene's. I also thought the writing was more interesting and the dialogue more memorable (though the US version was weirdly on par plot wise with most of the UK version). That said Wire in the Blood is awesome and I def rec anyone watch it.

I don't think Tony Hill and David Creegan are the same character,Creegan and Hill's disfunctions are on opposite ends of the spectrum as well as their job descriptions.

In order of preference I'd rate the shows as 1. TE US, 2. WitB 3. TE UK

I enjoyed the UK version quite a bit, but it is really overwrought and gets almost gratuitously dark around the end of the first season.

I also thought the Krakauer character arc in the original was too rushed. It's much better in the USA version.
