This Show Needs To Come Back

This show is way better then some of the crap thats been on the air the past three years. I wish they would just bring it back for another season but seeing as how some of the actors have moved on and the show really did not have a huge fan base its just wishful thinking on my part. It took the best elements from most shows that were on basic cable and made an attempt at being what i would call a truly original tv show with a kick ass soundtrack. Maybe the Canadians will bring back the old one or better yet combine the two.

I highly doubt they would continue the show since the actor is on another show on the same station called Burn Notice, which is apparently getting good ratings.

Which REALLY REALLY confuses me! I like Burn Notice but only in a casual sense.. In no way do I think it matches up to Touching Evil.. But somehow it seems that average shows tend to thrive in the US and anything that is truly cutting edge/new.. Just takes a nose dive 9 times out of 10.

reply

the sets and mood were so different/interesting from any TV drama I'd seen before. (Except for "the Prisoner" ;-o)
Was it Bruce Willis money behind it? I saw that someplace.

reply

It was his production company.

I agree completely. I don't like Burn Notice at all. I just couldn't get in to it no matter how hard I tried. I may be one of the few, but I still think Touching Evil is one of the most underrated shows of all time.

reply

He not only produced it but also guess starred on it. The two brothers who produced/directed the Johnny Depp movie "From Hell" were also involved in it.

It is called the dumbing down of America. People here do not want cutting edge , they want blah tv shows and reality shows(which never ceases to amaze me). There was a British show called Crackers-it was amazing- they did a remake of it here in the US and it bombed. It was a great show like Touching Evil. It is truly amazing how the people here in the states do not want quality shows, just b.s. shows.

reply

Obviously, it won't come back. But I fully agree that this was a very good show. The episodes with Pruitt Taylor Vince were particularly entertaining. Marvelous soundtrack and great acting and directing. I think the show was beyond its time and if it were being shown today, it would be much more successful.

I'm just a guy that likes horror flicks.

Now that "Burn Notice" is ending, maybe 'they' will think about bringing back "Touching Evil" - a wonderful show that ended WAY TOO SOON. I am always amazed that some really bad shows are still on the air after years when others are cancelled after half a season. I know I'm not the only person who thinks what I'm saying is true and it makes me feel a little better when I give my opinion.

I would agree, but the sad part is that many of the actors are BIG stars now, Bradley Cooper and Vera Farminga. But maybe we could still pick up on Jeffry Donavan’s character where he is now anyway. I LOVED this take on the modern serial killer drama where the hero is born from the same place as the monsters and tries salvage them rather than exterminate them. Not just trying to save the pretty people or those who look like us.

reply

I'm not disagreeing with you, but I don't understand what you mean by the hero being born of the same place as the monsters.

Actually it is back - only now it's called "Hannibal". That show has so many similarities with T.E. it's scary. Well, it took America almost 10 years before they were ready for such a masterpiece as T.E. It's PROFIT all over again folks, that's another show who got axed in much the same way as T.E. was. Sad.

what a sad way to end this series, and only have 1 season? Most shows need a few years to catch on, and they bailed on this> Today, the dary dramas and mysteries are the best. This show was way ahead of the game, and they didn't have the forsight to stand by it, yet continue to stand by their crappy shows? The usa network really screwed up not keeping this show. They have a few *beep* shows that they keep going.. This was way better than Burn Notice, and Vera farmiga? They lost her forever to Bated Motel as Norma Bates...they really need to redo this show.. Jeffry Donovan needs a new show now now that burn Noitice ended. After Bates Motel they need to get Jeffry and Vera back and remake this. They really need to make up for this total blunder, and redo this show for 10 years at least.

They have a few *beep* shows that they keep going though, but cancel a good one? This was way better than Burn Notice, and Vera farmiga? They lost her forever to Bates Motel as Norma Bates, she is awesome and her and Jeffry had great chemistry. Jeffry was better in this dark show and makes burn notice seem silly..they really need to redo this show.. Jeffry Donovan needs a new show now that Burn Noitice has ended. I am tired of finding a great show, only to have it canceled, and stupid shows run forever and a day. USA network has come up with a few good shows, but how they let this slip away is really stupid. Meanwhile they keep running some boring shows, and comming up with some interesting ones, but they need to stick to the good ones. Why do they cancel good shows, and keep the half ass ones on for years?
Come on USA network, get Jeffry and Vera back. There are great writers out there like the ones who wrote Law and Order Crimminal Intent, etc etc.. Jeffry is better as a darker detective, not a hoaky burned spy.. and I love Vera, that was perfect chemistry.
