So the one time they dont begin with a Control

They mess up the calculations to get a proper rocket propulsion? As soon as they began with the Gummi rocketed I was wondering where the regular rocket launch was. At least to get a baseline for the height. Guess they need the drama for the "hardest experiment in Mythbusters history"

I suspect maybe they did do the regular rocket first and then edited it to change the order. What would they do otherwise? Just turn around and leave with no footage for the show? Go ahead and try the gummy engines anyway with the audience knowing it was pointless?

reply

No, just show they had problems and go back to the shop. Isn't that what the show is about? They didn't even make a small scale test

and why use such an overly-complicated rocket design to begin with? why use the hybrid at all, when the simplest (fewest 'moving parts,' so to speak, ergo, less to break down) one was, well, the easiest

and I wonder how much the state of California fined them for putting all those filthy burned-sugar and feces emissions into the air? gosh, they looked disgusting, and probably smelled worse

That part made sense. The hybrid rocket allows using the gummy bears as-is where the other design required so much processing that it wasn't really gummy bears anymore. Showing that carbohydrates burn isn't much of a challenge.
