"This final season"

Is anyone getting tired of hearing those words, or variations of them? In every episode, it seems like every few minutes someone mentions that this is the final season. In S14E05, "Volunteer Special," it took a whole 36 seconds after the intro for Adam to say "in this final season." The narrator said it again prior to the 3-minute mark.

If I had to guess, I'd say at least ten times in every episode this phrase or a variant of it is used... come on guys, we freaking get it. You don't have to continually remind people. How stupid do you think your viewers are that they can't remember for 5 minutes that this is the final season?

Since they stopped doing myths long ago and apparently idiots got tired of watching stuff blow up. They feel the need to constantly self promote for ratings.

It's almost like a reprimand, isn't it? "This is the last season. You didn't watch the show, so it's coming off. Didn't you hear - this is the LAST SEASON.... It's YOUR fault..."

As others have said, net discussion on the show is virtually dead, and Hyneman, in particular, looks like he can hardly be bothered. Adam Savage is still trying to whip a bit of life into proceedings but it's a losing - lost in fact - battle. But, as I suspect with a lot of viewers, there has been an increasing sense of deja-vu in recent times and an increasing reliance on lazy "retesting the myth" setups.

They're rich men. They can wring another few years of cash from talks and tours etc. before people have forgotten the show, then they can probably comfortably retire. They've said themselves that work would be hard to find (if they were still doing their original movie mechanical-FX jobs) given the move to CG for SFX work.

They got rid of the eye candy, that's why it lost viewers.

I might be wrong, but didn't it used to be on a weekday as well? Nothing gets good ratings on Saturday nights.

Good point. I don't see why they got rid of Kari.
Or the others.

I preferred Kari, Grant, and Tory's part of the show for the most part, and it wasn't just because Kari is a total babe. Jamie is sometimes just too dry and Adam sometimes gets too carried away and over the top... I like them, but together they are too bipolar. Kari, Grant, and Tory worked together better... they were a good mix of science, myth, and fun.

I'm rather insulted that they weren't brought back for the entire final season... I don't think the show would have made it this far without them.

The first transport is away... hey!

Agree agree! I'm watching the final season now, and I definitely miss Kari, Grant and Tory - no offense to Adam and Jamie, but they just couldn't carry the show themselves anymore.

It's getting really annoying.

I just watched the series finale, and the earlier episodes didn't even compare to the annoyance factor of this episode. Almost literally every 30-60 seconds it was mentioned that this was the final season, the final episode, Buster's final appearance, etc. Just over and over and over, beating the horse long after it had died and turned into dust. Plus, they didn't even test any myths, they just blew stuff up. What's the point of the final episode of a show called "Mythbusters" that doesn't test myths? Definitely not sad to see this show off the air, though I do miss seeing Kari.

Is it really the end of Mythbusters & no more new seasons?
