Fiona?

Did I miss something or did Fiona just vanish? Did they ever mention why? And what about Mrs. Fleming?

Fiona (and even Mrs. Fleming) was one of the more poorly handled resolutions, to me anyway.

And while we're at it...Richard??? What the heck? He arrives, has a great storyline with the ill wife, seems to get on with everybody. But first episode of the following season, he's gone. Not a mention that I recall about what happened to him.

It did seem as though the season when they introduced Ruiri was not just a new season but a kind of reboot of the series and they just walked away from some characters without any information about what happened to them. Shows that do that are odd, especially when the ensemble is important and viewers are invested in characters over several series?

The show seemed to be pretty well-plotted in terms of having characters introduced, then have a resolution shown for them. But after series 5 or so, that all fell apart a bit.

But what happened to Fiona? End of one season she's there holding court. The first episode of the next season, she's gone. Not even mentioned--like she never existed.

At least Mrs. Fleming got a mention from Cathy to somebody when Cathy talked about the lower ground floor flat, "...with Mrs. Fleming away on a long trip," or something. But then, she was never mentioned again either. What happened to the agreement that the flat was hers when Cathy and Ed bought the building?

Fiona was the weirdest plot mishap, though. For a woman who got a huge plot of her own, and with the idea hammered in for a long time that the clinic was her life and all that went on with that...she just disappears without mention?

She does return later (hope that doesn't spoil it for you). But it's a few brief scenes with a storyline of her own--but not as an employee of the clinic.

Even the last time we saw her, she was moving in with Julian to live with crazy baby obsessed Cara--which seemed to be a set up for Cara going nuts again and trying to take over somebody's baby. But not a peep was ever heard again about that storyline.

Series 6-7 had a lot of sloppy plot lines that never got resolved or explained--like Fiona and Mrs. Fleming.

I liked Fiona. Especially the episode where Mrs Fleming set her up with a dating company. Fi goes on the date but is in for a surprise when she meets them. The next day she tells Mrs Fleming:
"Daniel was Danièle. You set me up with a girl!" The reply was classic. "Are you sure?" The actress playing Fi had a beautiful 'Are you serious?!' on her face.

She moved somewhere south of the equator, after meeting Ian in prison, and he encouraged her to do as much
