Why do film makers make such immensely depressing films like this?

It's like they want the every day ordinary man to become suicidal, I swear! This movie absolutely wrecked me. I should never have watched it.

I hate life so much. Ugh.

You hate life so much?

Maybe one day you'll "finally have the balls to take the overdose."

You should seriously kill yourself. Also, watch Synedoche, New York. Haven't seen it? It describes your life perfectly, chump.

This is the movie that made me the full on passionate nihilist that I am today. Perhaps you should watch it, and understand where I'm coming from?

I don't give a sh!t about money.

Did you watch the movie yet? Did it make you suicidal like it does most people?

I don't give a sh!t about money.

Because it's real. This is Kaufman making a depressing film about the reality of being human featuring a character who is trying to make a depressing play about the reality of being human.

If it spoke to you on a deeper level, then it's a successful film. Great artists try to illuminate the complexity of life in their work; this is another example of that.

To answer your question, artwork like this is made to help people better understand who they are.
