Hazels house

being perpetually up in flames seemed like overkill on the symbolism. I loved this movie but that's the one aspect that made me a little angry.

"That moonwalk back there was streets ahead buddy."

Just watched the film, and I didn't get what the house in flames was supposed to mean. Can you please explain that to me?

Yes, do tell OP!

The house on fire is meant to show that the deductions we make in life, one way or another, directly affect our existence, and therefore our death. Hazel mentions that she is afraid of dying in the fire but buys the house anyway. At the end of the film Hazel does in fact die of, as the doctor put it, "smoke inhalation." I believe that the film presents two ways of looking at life; either worry about all the little details of your existence and eventually become consumed with the misery that they create, i.e. Caden's health issues, or you could ignore the ultimate factors of your existence and live a more happy and ignorant life, buying the house on fire.
