Does it really ignore 2 and 3?

They say Angela has been locked up for twenty years, but she could have been placed in a mental hospital after the events of Part 3. Also, she had a sex change in between 1 and 2 yet they still refer to her as a man in this one. Either the sex change was a rumor, they didn't know about the sex change, or they're referring to the fact that she was born a man.

I enjoyed this one, but I love 2 and 3, so I like to think they're all canon. Also, I felt like there was some references to Part 2 here such as a character named T.C. and Weed's death was similar to that of the Shilt sisters.

Think the creator/director guy considers 2 and 3, and 4 apparently, non-canon.

This is only a sequel to the first one, the second and third are considered to be either non cannon or part of their own universe where RtSC didn't happen. As for them referencing the sequels in the movie, like Weed dying and having a character named TC I think it's just a poor attempt to emulate something that just didn't quite work out, I think they tried to give the fans what they wanted, (like including references to the rest of the series) but in all honesty they should have spent more time developing a decent script.

I saw TC on the cast list, and thought it was unusual;unless it was just to pay some sort of homage to SC2. But since its considered non-canon or AU;that seems weird.
