Dead Dog Tree

I remember seeing it in theaters, but I missed it when I watched the DVD. Does anyone remember when we see the tree with the dogs hanging from it in the movie? I hope it's not missing from the DVD for some reason.

Do you remember where the scene is in Jindabyne?

I just came back from the very place this movie takes place, (it really blew my mind to find it after I had been there) I saw the same exact same thing right along the road and just before the State border between Vic and NSW. It was one dog hung just like those in the film. The Aussie I was with told me it was the collection (culling) of wild feral dogs (not dingos.) He didn't have an explination as to why they are hung like that. It freaked out the girls in my group and I will have to admit it was kind of chiiling.

Even stranger still to see it in a movie on PPV back in the States a few weeks later.

I thought of Dancer Upstairs, too.

Glad to see this thread, I really wondered about the dead dogs hanging from a tree. I wondered if it was an Aborigine thing.

Its the scene where Laura Linney is driving to the memorial ceremony, quite near the end....

It's on the way to the Aboriginal's place. I thought the scene was shown several times. Laura Linney was driving back and forth several times. I thought they were supposed to be dead Dingos. That reminds me: When her son and the little girl go swimming in the lake, and the girl swims over to the rocks, there is a strange scene too, that I still don't understand. It seemed to spook the little girl somehow. It looked like either skins or clothes pinned on a line between posts. Anybody know what that was?

I was recently in Jindabyne for a snow trip with a couple mates. We were told about the "Dingo Tree", which actually turned out to be multiple trees. It is located in between Jindabyne and Dalgety, on Paupong Road. Anyway, the farmers hang them up, almost like a sort of trophy. But the Dingos are killed because they ravage the farmer's sheep numbers.

It's a bit morbid, I guess, but a good photo opportunity nonetheless. So here are some from my trip. It's pretty obvious, but I should warn that anyone who finds these things hard to look at should refrain from clicking on any links...
