Jindabyne

Isn't the basic premise for this film ripped from the john Cheever short story ...that was part of the Robert Altman film "Short Cuts" ? I haven't seen Jindabyne yet, but it sounds horribly derivate of the segement in "Short Cuts" where the group of guys go fishing - and find the naked body of a beautiful girl in the river. Rather than report the body, they are having the best day's fishing of their lives - so they keep fishing ! Eventually they return home feeling guilty but unrepentent.

I'll be very interested to see if Jindabyne is a rip-off of another writer's work.

Why call it a rip-off since due credit is given to Raymond Carver for his short story? It's an adaptation so, obviously, rights have been paid.

The movie's been selected in La Quinzaine des Réalisateurs coming this month in Cannes.

Oh no! Looks like "Billy Bob 49" isn't the know all he thinks he is! When's your magnum opus coming out?
