Am I the only one?

I loved this story the first time I saw it and every time since. Am I the only one who thinks this is a terrific movie?

Nope, you're not. I really enjoyed it too. It's *unbelievable* what he went thru...just start with sitting in a completly open car with no windshield. Imagine what it was like in vicious thunderstorms!

I definitely think they could've improved the documentary by shaving about 40 minutes off the running time (could easily have been done without sacrificing content) but I am still very glad I saw this.

I saw this documentary when it was first aired on PBS in 2003, and I still find the story fascinating.

I loved this documentary and still think about it one year after I first saw it. Ken Burns did an amazing job and I felt like I was on the road trip with him. I thought Horatio's devotion to his dog Bud was very touching too. Highly recommended.

I agree. Great story, but a bit too long.

Thankfully Ken Burns didn't go overboard with his usual literary quotes and famous writers talking about nothing in this documentary. I hated that in the baseball documentary it took him 20 minutes to get to the point.

^^^Agree. Ken can be very long-winded. I agree that 30-40 mins could easily be shaved off this documentary. Even so, I still loved it!

It was perhaps a little too long but in the end it didn't matter since I found the whole subject fascinating.

I looooove this. After I saw it, I showed it to some people and they loved it and I loved watching it again. Then, I went out to the library and checked out Dayton Duncan's book about it. A lot of the same stuff, but still. Great story.

and I’m watching it right now via the PBS app.

I watched it several years ago. I remember very little about it but I do recall it being good. It was one of the first Ken Burns films I ever saw, and possibly even THE first. I've seen several since.
