never read the book, but the whole plot was cartoonish. the casting was also weird: Hanks was terrible and wooden, others were cartoonish as well. also, I have read other books on the subject (Holy Blood, a bunch of Robert Anton Wilson stuff, etc), and trying to cram all of this information into one movie is bound to be silly. I'm sorry, but it was just a bad film.
shareI like Angels and Demons too, but like this one, it's no masterpiece. The Da Vinci Code is a very well produced, entertaining film, which I give a strong 7.🐭
shareThis movie is a masterpiece and is 1 of about 30 movies I give at 10.
shareHonestly, I'm surprised it's not rated any lower considering it wasn't exactly a hit with the critics.
Does it deserve a better rating? In my view, yes. Many viewers' biggest issue with the movie appears to be its ridiculous story. You know, I think the more ridiculous... the better! Why? Well, I had a good idea this was going to be a wacky (for lack of a better term) movie story-wise, therefore I gladly looked forward to whatever it had to say. Plus, it's above average from a technical standpoint, it has some strong performances (Hanks, the less praiseworthy person in the movie to some, is solid), and above all, there's never a dull moment in it. Not great, not bad.
You want something corny? You got it!
I suspect its score has been somewhat influenced by people's beliefs about its subject matter.
You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.
Me to.
I suspect if it had different subject matter the rating would be even lower.
