shareyep as bmayorga have said that's a compliment for the director and screenwriter.
The idea is that everyone in this movie should result repulsive for the audience (except maybe for the local police chief, and the wives and kids) for all of them commits crimes and makes very wrong decisions; at different levels and for different reasons, though.
