Sebastián Crodero filmed in 1999 "Ratas, ratones y rateros" ("Rodents"). I recommend this movie, it won several international awards.
Cordero will direct Harrison Ford (!) in "Manhunt", currently in pre production stage. I think is a really big step from an Latinamerican Director.
I was not a big fan of "Ratas, ratones y rateros". I've spent alot of time in Ecuador as my wife and family are Ecuadorian. It is interesting, because it shows the regionalistic attitudes/biases that you can see everyday while living or visiting the different parts of the country, but I felt the movie dragged and would not be interesting to anyone that has not lived (or at least, spent alot of time) in Ecuador.

Most of the people don't know nothing about Ecuador, about the people, the way of living or anything, so I think they could find interesting to see something about this place that the don't know and that no one talks about, even though the movie shows just a tiny little part of it. I think Ecuador is a country worth knowing about.
shareI saw "Ratas, ratones y rateros" 5 years ago more or less. But I still remember it pretty well.
IMO Crónicas is a better film... but to each his own.
