When did the Peanuts characters turn into such snots?

Watching this special is painful. The characters use words like "hate," "ugly," and "stupid." It's too bad the producers felt it necessary to update the dialogue to coincide with this hateful era of humanity where it's no longer cool to be polite and a simple "please" or "thank you" is simply nonexistent.

Peanuts should exist in its own contained world of innocence, free of corruption. This special sours Schultz's creations. Sad.

You do know the very first Peanuts comic strip from 1950 contains the word "hate", right? Go to Google Images and search for "first Peanuts strip" to see it. In any case, I prefer the original Peanuts Christmas special to this one.

Yes, I'm aware of what the first strip says. Kids say "hate" all the time and obviously that was an isolated incident. Other examples?
