Fans of the books

I used to love these books, and I just saw the programme. I don't read the books anymore but I was still majorly annoyed. Is it just me or does this have barely anything to do with the books? All the characters look different and the settings and everything is just really different.

Things willl never be the same

Yeah I know what u mean,
I loved the books and then the Sleeopover club videos came out and it was like what! the're like 15 or 16 and in the books they were about 11 or 12 you know.

But i guess i got used to the series.

The books were amazing!! i adored the books and the series was soo way off the mark. I mean the books are about english girls at a primary school. The series was just like, set in australia and it didn't have anything to do with their school at all!!

reply

Actually the books weren't set in Australia at all they were set in Manchester in England near Wimbledon.

i think they r 10 in the books coz they go 'frankie had lurid rasberry red lips and custard in her eyelashes. she's the messiest 10 year old ever'

reply

They *are* all 10, yes, and they live in Cuddington, Leicestershire. I know, I know, I'm 18 years old and I still know all the details. ;-) I started reading the books when I was 9, and I have all of them now. They're kind of a guilty pleasure, but I suppose I can use the excuse that I'm saving them for my own children. I was amazed when the books became a TV series - I never realised they were all that popular.

i used to read the books. i read the first one when i was in year 6 and was going away with my primary school. stopped reading them a while ago though. not sure what the last one i read was. i remember when there was one called Sleepover Club go Spice but they've changed it to Sleepover Club go Pop. and the M & M's used to be girls but they've changed that too. i still read the back of the books when i'm in WHSmiths though. the show did change bits and now the books are refleting more of the show now. wish i still had some of the books but i'd never read them now. i'm 19 so a bit too old. and i got rid of all my Babysitters Club books! and my Worst Witch books! so regrating that now!

I remember writing a letter to the bbc when I was about 9, asking them to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make the sleepover club books into a series...
They wrote back saying that it was too girly and that they had to cater for boys and girls together!
Then a year or two ago I caught the programme on ITV and I was so shocked! Not only is it nothing like the books and terribly acted, but DAMMIT I should have written to ITV instead!

One day, you'll be cool.

And Kenny's name is not Kenny Tan - it's Laura Mackenzie. I can't believe I still remember that! lol
