This was good!

Very good. Very cool humor! And so *beep* painfull...oh my god, this was good. A light Dutch movie amidst all the heavy physcological movies and that stupid B teen movies. This one is good.

Tim Oliehoek is coming up....

I totally agree, nice humor, reasonable acting, after Soldier of Orange my favorite dutch movie

I disagree on this one...... the action scenes made the movie somewhat entertaining, I thought the humour was very bad.... (the very few times I laughed in the Cinema, the rest of the audience was quiet.... and vice versa.... strange [lol]).....

I think there are better dutch movies..... like "van God los".....!!

Eej praat gewoon nederlands, niet dom doen

I agree.. this movie isn't trying to be something it's not. I think it's brilliant :)

Can't wait for the sequel (which will undoubtibly come considering the succes)

I'll certainly be buying the DVD. Did anyone catch the Vet Hard references in the TV series Grijpstra & De Gier last Friday? (Jack Wouterse also plays in this series) There was a guest character named Bennie, and a woman nicknamed Betsy (the name of Bennie's old car in Vet Hard). Can't be a coincidence.

oh man, this movie was bad.. The humour was so thin and badly written it gave me goosebumps of embarrassment.. U could tell the script and directing were just very lousy, as the main characters were acting like they just came out of acting school, whilst they normally perform much better..
This film will do good at a very young audience i guess...say like 10 - 15 years old.

reply

Yeah right... TaCTiX... This was supercool!!! Vet Hard Rules! Jack and Kurt where asome! I never saw a movie like this in Holland ever!!!

reply

And I thought only the people who come to the videostore I work in have the worst taste ever.

Hey, just because someone likes a movie you hate doesn't mean the person has a bad taste. Opinions and tastes are right nor wrong, that's the difference between them and facts.

Help! I lost some weight and I can't find it anymore!

Kut? Mwoah, I quite liked it. It wasn't a very intelligent movie, but it was entertaining. And isn't that what movies like this are supposed to do?

reply

Man, this is probably on of the worst comedies i've seen in my life! Even Attack of The Killer Tomatoes! is a Citizen Kane compared to this production. Humor..where? Ooooh, you mean the moments when another guy gets kicked in the nuts...so lame, so predictable, so boring, so much horendous acting. The script was (if possible) even worse than my previous points, why the hell does everything happen, I had to read up on the storie after I saw the movie and thougt to myself: "ooh, was that the point they were trying to make".
The only way for me to enjoy this movie is forcing me to watch The Color Purple for twelve years straight and then ask me if I want to see this one...i probably kill myself first.

Stay away from this movie...as it will change your life..and not in a good way!

The Lying Dutchman

reply

The thing that pissed me off the most, was the use of so called Dutch celebs, like Chazia Mourali. Damn, she's lame.

Weren't you glad they killed her then?

The movie was shown at Cannes, so not everybody who saw it speaks Dutch. One of the reviews here is from an American.

Too bad it is just a remake of the dansih "old men in new cars"
I really dont understand the point in making remakes so soon after the orginal movie was released. I personally think the first "in chine they eat dogs" was better though.

I think the main reason in this case was that the Danish original hadn't been released in the Netherlands. Obviously, there's also the €€€ reason (which is why all movies are made).

The original was released in holland.

Thanks for correcting that. However, was it a major cinema release or did it go straight to DVD? That can make a difference in how well-known a movie becomes.
