"Roth will take the title role as the part-owl, part-angel Skellig who is discovered in a ramshackle shed.
Kelly MacDonald, who received an Oscar nomination this year for No Country for Old Men, will play Michael's mother, while Life on Mars' John Simm will play his dad.
The two-hour film will premiere on Sky1 and Sky1 HD in Spring 2009 and will later be released in cinemas worldwide."
Where are they filming Rachel? I just noticed a snippet in the Radio Times this week about Skellig being made into a movie which is what prompted me to come and check it out. I'm interested to know whether they are keeping the (very David Almond) location of the story or whether it has been relocated.
Assuming this goes well, I'd like to see The Fire Eaters made into a movie next. It's a fantastic story.
lol @ the American who uses his nationality as an excuse not to know Tim Roth. He's more famous for his American roles (Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs) than for his English ones, dumbass.
Ok, well, he's still a fairly known actor. The above could have chosen their words better, but all the same. And if you love good movies (and want to get to know Roth better) see The Legend of 1900 (or whatever the Italian title is... according to Wikipedia it's La leggenda del pianista sull'oceano). Or Reservoir Dogs if you're into crime movies. Or Lie To Me if you like good TV.
Roses are red, Violets are blue, in Soviet Russia, Poem writes YOU!!!
Yeah, I watched The Legend of 1900 for the first time today (It's on youtube) and LOVED IT. Of course, I've been familiar with Tim Roth for quite a while. I'm a sixteen year old American and for years I thought Tim Roth was American as well since he is brilliant at doing accents. Just realized after seeing The Incredible Hulk that he was a Brit. But anyway... Tim Roth is the greatest, hands down.
And I CAN'T WAIT FOR SKELLIG. I'm reading the book right now and am almost done.
Thank you for your recommendations, I will watch one of those movies. Sorry, if I offended anyone by not knowing Roth as well as the rest of you. I am really looking forward to this movie.
Or Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead if you're into very clever, esoteric send-ups-slash-interpretations of Shakespeare's Hamlet (or just want to see Roth and Gary Oldman looking entirely hot.)
