Having read, and loved, the novel, I'm really looking forward to seeing this. Has anyone seen it? How is it? If you've read the book AND seen the film, I'd be especially interested in what you thought....
shareI saw some trailers and clips. I know some Polish but am not fluent enough to grade the script. The art direction and sound design look very very good. However, the director Grodecki whose work I am not familiar has apparently taken a particularly homosexual oriented approach to the screen version. I remember there was a slight gay theme going on between Zip and some other characters when I read the novel (crazy pianist/composer for instance, forget his name). The gay aspect of Zip's story is by far the least important aspect of the book therefore I am a bit skeptical now about the final product.
I'll post again soon once I see it. The novel is one hell of a nut to crack and I'm not sure how well it will stand up but who knows.
