This would make an awesome movie

Listen, I am not in the film business, but I know movie material when I see it. This is movie material. I even came up with a cast.
Chris Stone=Paul Walker
Isabella=Angelina Jolie
General Tatarin=Brian Mallon(Just give him the accent)
General Bulba= I don't have a damn clue
Mr. Jones= Sam Elliot(Can't find anyone with the tone of voice)
Troy Stone= Slyvester Stallone

Not the best, but its what i could think of. This would be an AWESOME movie. I would pay 6 dollars to see it.

It would be a good film but wouldnt have the same feeling like the game. The problem with this is the film would be cut short and also it probably wouldnt go down well with the Russians. The patriotic flag waving is stereotypical of Americans but im not complaining at you for it because in England we are not allowed to fly our flag (St. George,Red Cross with white background) publicly because it is seen as a symbol of Rascism and will upset Muslems.
This kind of film has already been made before. Red Dawn starring Patrick Swayze in which a group of teenage freedom fighters fight Soviets in the mid-west.
Good Idea but Wishmaster you should not have chosen Slyvester Stallone, he is as bad an actor as Nicholas Cage (both rubbish).

reply

Ok, maybe a C. Thomas Howell with a little more weight on him. It would have just as much action as the game, like this

It would show scenes of Chris Stone leading his fighters into action against Soviets, blowing up helipads, blowing up generators, and freeing prisoners, then it would show some 5 second long gunfight scenes in Freedom Fighters vs Soviet Soldiers, then after scenes, it would show him raising the flag somewhere in Manhattan. But unlike the game, it would show the Soviets actually winning some skirmishes against the rebels, and also unlike the game, when someone gets shot, they don't survive. The only 3 battle scenes to be shown like they were in the game was the assassination of Tatarin, but Chris is up close and fires a pistol. THen later it would show the D-Day style invasion of governor's island then the final battle of Fort Jay, then you would see an acted out version of the endiong of the game.

About the Red Dawn movie comment. That was in Colorado! We're talkin Manhattan, the perfect battlefield! Troy Stone maybe should be C.Thomas Howell from how he looked in Gods and Generals, but with a shorter moustache. Colin Farrel would be a better choice for Chris Stone.

Also, the British flag thing, my stepdad(and a whole third of my family) is muslim and he says the flag is not a religous flag so he doesnt understand y it upsets other muslims. He wears shirts with the british flag on it.

Colin Farrel......good choice....actually great choice!

Yeah, it would be a pretty cool movie, and the ending would be a good movie ending.

But why have you got Bulba and Jones as different people? Wasn't Mr. Jones General Bulba?

reply

They're one and the same as I just found out.

Thi sgame (although it's kinda short) is too big to fit a movie. Maybe it should be a mini-series.

Hey look its spot

reply

That would be cool, but we all know it aint gunna happen. Ok, I reorganized the cast.

Chris Stone: Colin Farrel
Isabella: Angelina Jolie
General Bulba/ Mr. Jones: Jack Nicholson
Bagz: Ashton Kutcher
Kid: Bow Wow
General Tatarin: Jean Reno
Troy Stone: C. Thomas Howell

The Freedom Fighter extras can be played by people like 50 Cent, Ralph Macchio, Eminem, Jay Z, and all the other rappers that have been charged with possession of weapons.

I'd make a trilogy out of the game.

The first one would end with the Russian attack on the base are Tatarin is killed and it'd be huge, sorta like the ending outta BR2 and I'd leave a question mark to whether Chris survives.

Then the 2nd film would end with Chris's speech at the news station and I'd flesh out the characters and the 3rd with start with the Govenor Island attack and end with it too.

reply

i think that'd be awesome...

reply

I think someone should write a petition to a movie company to make this a movie

reply

I know this would really kick ass as a movie. As it doesnt really have a specific plot they could remix some things to suit the movie format, and they could run some moralistic undertones right through the movie.
And lots of really high tempo action scenes, not too many, but enough to make you jump when they break out, like the robbery chase scene out of Heat.

Bloc Party dont suck as much as I thought they did.

reply

I suppose that it would be a nice homage to the old "Red Scare" movies of the 1950's and 1980's. Seeing as how we've never exactly warmed to the Russians, we could make an old-style Cold War movie without too many people squawking about it. Besides, Nazis have been done to death, and all those red flags are pretty cool.

reply

Troy Stone as Slyvester Stallone!?!?
You do know that he is Chris's younger brother.
Also Angelina Jolie would be better as the Russian Newslady
What about the "Kid" and Phil Bagstone?

reply

I'd get unknowns to act in the film. Makes it more realistic. After if you have some like Sly in it then you can already guess it go down the '1 man army' crapola route

reply

I can see C. Thomas Howell being Troy Stone. Sam Elliot would have to be a bad guy, if he was to be Mr. Bulba. With some weight. PAul Walker would be a terrible Chris. Somebody like.........crap...haha! Tom Jane. If you've seen Dreamcatcher, you already know he can act like he's never looked at a gun before. He can do the acting to where he can't hold an automatic, plus he'd be good at the combat and stunts, he's Tom friggin' Jane. whata think?

movielvrPOSWPC93 i agree with this, however i think thta unknown actors for the main roles would be much better.

whoever suggested the trilogy thing has my vote, except i dont think the 3rd one should start with the final assault but rather build up to it. I would hate to see great ideas go down the drain because of this silly politicall corectness.

Red Dawn... In Manhatten.

I don't see colin farrel or any of the big name actors in any of these roles, you need provenly great actors, otherwise as much as i love them, this movie would turn into the biggest summer movie flop of all time...especially with paul walker...he can't act, it's just a fact of life, paul walker could not and should never be in the lead role of any movie...get some no-name actors to play the freedom fighters, new talent is what a movie (if there ever were one) like this needs...and get some proven bad guys for the russians, don't have any suggestions, but putting big name actors in this movie, in my personal opinion, would ruin it...as much as i loved the game and all the action it had, i couldn't watch a movie with paul walker or colin farrel

I dont have much faith in game based movies anymore. If you ask me making a movie version of FF carries too much risk of sucking. FF is one of my favorite games of all time on the PS2 and what we really need is a next-gen sequel.

Has anyone noticed in Hitman: Bloody Money (for which IO were the devs) the FF reference? In the level titled: "A New Life" go upstairs and down the hall. Through the second door on the left youll find a girls room (its bright pink you cant miss it). Theres a poster for this ugly chick named "Winnie Freedom". Anyway, shes wearing a t-shirt that has the FF molotov logo printed on it. I guess it could be a hint from IO that another FF is coming. Or it could be nothing haha.

Freedom Fighters would make a great movie. Of course, know one knows how well it will do in the box office. People who play video games would see it, but what about people who don't play video games?

This is a list of some of the Soviet weapons and vehicles that should be included:

AK-74
AK-101
AN-94
GP-30 Grenade Launcher
PP-19 Bizon SMG
RPG-7
PKM Machine Gun
MP-445 Pistol
BMP-3
BTR-90
ZSU-23-4 Shilka AAA Vehicle
SA-17 Grizzly SAM Launcher
T-80 Main Battle Tank
T-90 Main Battle Tank
Mi-24 Hind
Ka-28 Helix
Ka-50 Hokum
MiG-29 Fulcrum
Su-27 Flanker
Su-32 Fullback
Tu-160 Blackjack

The movie would start out the way the game started out - the underwater scene with the credits explaining how the Soviets were the first to develop the A-Bomb and the spread of Communism, then subs rise out of the water in front of the Statue of Liberty. It would then move to Chris and Troy heading to Isabella's apartment, where they soon realize that the Commies are invading.

The rest of the movie would include Rebel and Soviet victories in Manhattan. It would also include Tatarin's assassination, Mr. Jones turning out to be the head of KGB, Chris' speech from the TV station, and ending with the victory at Fort Jay. Probably a 2-3 hour movie.

As of this evening I have begun writing the script.

You idiots the game was based on a movie called red dawn. Stupid little kiddies.

reply

Thanks, I knew that, but Red Dawn sucked, and
this story could/should epic on the big screen.
