Viz disown Fat Slags

I'd heard that Viz don't want anything to do with this project since the premise is that The Fat Slags end up being slim and getting the man of their dreams or something, which goes completely against the concept of the cartoon. I'd have to agree with their stance and if it's not going to be like the cartoon it's not going to be something that I'm going to watch. I don't think that even having the absolutely gorgeous Fiona Allen can save this I'm afraid.

I can assure you that the Slags do not become slim and that Viz have jumped to the wrong conclusions. I'm not sure how this happend, but it seems like they didn't bother to actually ask...both Fiona and Sophie make a smashing pair of Slags!

It's official - not only has Viz completely disowned the film (their staff saw it on the opening weekend), but they were so horrified at how appalling it was that they've killed off the original strip in protest.

Creator Graham Dury said: "I'm sorry to say that the Fat Slags are no more. After seeing this crass and ill conceived film I just don't feel like drawing them again".

"As far as we are concerned the Fat Slags has already been made by Alan Clarke. His film Rita Sue and Bob Too is the best film you could hope to make of the Fat Slags.

"This version...bears no relation to the comic strip which we have worked so hard to make a success."

I noticed there is no credit for Simon Donald, who created the strip. Was this an oversight, or did he not want his name associated with the film?

A while ago (i think it was March/April) i went to see simon donald live preveiwing his edinburgh show of how he created the Viz comic all those years ago, although he didn't go into on the night he did mention then that it was going to be absolute crock of poo, and it must have only been in production then, i so imagine he asked his name to be taken off the credits very early from an early disaggreement.
