How?

How do terrible movies like this find distribution?! It was just awful! And I love low budget horror flics. This one just wasn't worth the plastic disc it was burned onto.

My husband happens to be an independent filmmaker, Hawkeye, look for him on the IMDB. To date he has written, produced and directed six independent films. The two of us watched this film because as I said, we love low budget independent horror films. All we could do was discuss the question of how crap like this can get wide distribution while Hawkeye practically had to sell his soul to get his film No News released.

Ghost Lake had a terrible story, horrible dialogue, pitiful acting, faulty promotion, (they were ghosts not zombies and they didn't eat their victims as the description states in several locations.)

All I can say is, support independent filmmakers who do make great or at least good films! Ghost Lake should have been left on the writer's word processor, let alone the cutting room floor!

Sounds like Jealousy.

The difference between Ghost Lake and No News seems to be budget, location, and experience.

All indie fim makers put their heart and life into making these films. Ghost Lake I am sure was no difference.

Also the orginial title of this film was Empty Lake. The marketing and packaging is usually up to the distributor once the film is sold.

To answer the question HOW? Being in the community of film making, going to film markets, experience, hard work, and so on gets a film sold. Bitching, bad attitude, and not knowing the industry will have you at home video feature #7 wondering why guys like this continue to make films that sell and are seen everywhere.
