What did they use for this movie? It looked really strange.

That would be called a filter ;) Or they just saturated it digitally in post-production. I've not seen it yet, but seen a few favourable comments so will probably check it out.

Hello...
I was a cameraman on the film. It was 35mm, and we used some warming filters (I forget which ones now), and the look, I believe, was further enhanced in post production. We also "pushed" the film, which means you leave it in the chemicals longer during developing, and this enhances the grain. The Director of Photography, George Mooradian, wanted some grain to enhance the grittiness of Cleveland.
