Who wants real life?

One thing that struck me while watching this film, why not just hook up into the simulation? It looked amazing. I think Beavis and Butthead (I can't remember their names) had the right idea. Why choose grim reality when you can live in paradise? Laura should have stayed with her sister and her kids and let Decker live.
