Just tried to watch this atrocious remake of a great original

I couldn't make it past the middle hour or so. When they remake great originals their egos always get the better of them because they try to change them. This one is full of stupid and just plain silly scenes. First of all the casting was backwards. Crowe should have played Evans and Bale should have been Wade. Then having the 14-yo kid involved was TV sit-comish. The difference in the acting and casting of the original is night and day. Ford was brilliant as Wade and Heflin was an all-time top character actor. The scenes between the two of them were some of the best 2 character scenes ever on film. By contrast the miscasting of Crowe & Bale left much to be desired in their scenes. Then there's the posse allowing members to be in position to be killed by this so-called DANGEROUS "killer". Not to mention the "un-surviable" rifle butt wiping that Wade some how does survive not only with minimal injuries but enough energy and "health" to continue to inflict damage on the group of ridiculously stupid (even for those of the uneducated old west) posse. This incessant desire to remake great films is absolutey a waste on the part of todays movie makers. There are plenty average to poor films to try to make better. BTW, this remake ranks with the horrid one of "King Kong" by Jackson as two of the worst in recent years.

This is easily better than the original

Obviously nostalgia is hitting you hard dude. I just saw both this week and the remake is better in every possible way from start to finish.

Yeah, this movie was pretty rife with plot, and logic, holes.

That's funny because I tried to watch the original and couldn't get through it. I just found it rather boring.

Agree the remake is horse poop.
