Best Western I've seen.

And yes I've seen all the classics. Some might be more fun at parts. Damn this one hits it's notes strong and best at being a western.

Seriously Delusional👆

I'd personally rank it up there as one of the bests, but not THE best for me.

Which "classics"?

I liked this, tho. Enjoyable.

Obviously never seen Once Upon a Time in the West.

A really good western and IMO, an improvement on the original. Have to add that I thought Russell Crowe's central performance was really outstanding. Great to see actors like Peter Fonda and Alan Tudyk flying the flag too.

I'm definitely on the other side from you, I absolutely hate this movie. I enjoyed it ok in the theater, but then when I re-watched it with a friend a few years ago I couldn't stand to sit through it.

Having just watched it agaain - I'm going to agree. Just so many fantastic parts coming together here - Bale & Crowe, fantastic cinematography, beautiful score that builds so well to the conclusion, ending that hits all the right notes...

I guess most people would rate Unforgiven as at or near the top of modern Westerns but, while i like it, its a pretty straightforward, predictable story that says fairly standard things about the cost of taking human life and reality vs myth. To be honest Yuma is probably more or less as predictable but its just so much fun and a much more interesting character study of two men IMO.

Obviously never saw The Searchers.
