The Crossing Guard

I liked the crossing guard, too. Oftentimes it's the little touches, the minor characters, that help to bring out the main story in sharp relief, and clearly the crossing guard character was a metaphor for the overarching theme of enduring love. Even though he got only a small amount of screen time, the actor did a very fine job, because he was unforgettable.

I loved him. He was perfect. The scene with the aerial view of the umbrellas in the rain reminded me of the French classic Umbrellas of Cherboug.
