It's the official language of the country: It's Kreyol (or Haitian Creole). French is also the official language of the country but Kreyol is used the most.

I know something about Haiti life, and I know this is no easy.
The problem is in the crisis all the world is looking the place, but one week later, there is another crisis and the news look to another country,... but .... you and me are living with the crisis.

I had a Haitian in my French class. He was the worst student in the class. He spoke pigeon French and felt he didn't have to study.

In my italian class, there are people that spoke dialect (language from regions like Veneto or Puglia) and mix italian with dialect in a very big mesh...

Hey, did you ever see My Name Is Tanino? They have some Pugliense dialect in that film.
By the way, I also had a French-Canadian in one of my classes. His mother was francophone and he grew up in bilingual Montreal. He was 100% fluent in French, unlike the rest of us, but he didn't study either and so he would usually get something like 82% on his exams while the rest of would get 90-95%.

Yes, the natural language, is the best to know a language.
Our problem (Sud-america) is here we have not natural contact with people from another language (except Brasil=portuguese).
