A morality tale?
For all the flashy shots and jump cuts in this film, at base it strikes me as quite a simple moral tale, and a not-very-nuanced radical feminist one at that.
Look at when the two older men open up; the director/father hates his own father because he raped him (men perpetuating sexual violence). The actor hates his mother, but he doesn't cite any particular reason for it (men hate their mothers).
The actress seems both intellectually vacant and emotionally vulnerable, and this seems to stem from her buying into a stereotypically "pornographic" sexuality. (Buying into a stereotypically male form of sexuality will only harm women).
Is Moodysson mates with Andrea Dworkin or something?
