Did anyone notice the strange bloody wounds on the fathers stomach? - there were two of them and they seemed to be wrapped in cling flim. They were only shown once and the rest of the time (when he was decking about "as nature intended") they were not there.

What was that all about then!? Did I miss something? Does anyone have any ideas?

Some of the surgery footage spliced into the film showed internal organs (including what I took to be a stomach) being handled. Perhaps the father had at some point had surgery on his abdomen and the brief shot of the 'dressing' was a reference to this.
