That ending...

I think, honestly, that was the greatest ending to a film I've ever seen.

Lilja 4-Ever,
There Will Be Blood,
Dancer In The Dark,
Nostalghia,
Ratcatcher...

Sure, those films all had incredible conclusions...
but the final scene of Tropical Malady was like nothing I've seen before. Nothing.
Pure emotion. Bravo, Mr. Weerasethakul.

That's the point where you come to realise that you cant understand it... In a traditional sense.
But that doesn't mean there's nothing to understand.
It's like trying to perceive the 4th dimension, or trying to conceive the 5th.
It's impossible, but it doesn't mean it doesn't exist....
Very much like certain books can... Murakami's wild sheep chase had that effect.. It just gets in your head, in that way that's incredibly hard to do... I don't think that's ever really quite happened to me with a film before.. With a book it can get in your head a lot easier because it's in it's nature to be in your head... because you're reading it.... But with film, you're observing it through the confines of two of your senses... (your sight and sound)
this managed to do it though, to get in...... it was really good... sorry for the ramble.

No, that wasn't a ramble; it made complete sense to me, and I understand.
It was like watching something from another world; I was crying, but I didn't know why.
Completely sensory - doesn't require analysis, nothing of the sort.
Probably the purest form of human emotion I've ever witnessed in a film.
I'll be sure to check out Wild Sheep Chase.
