Loulou Questions

I am really confused about Loulou. First, why exactly where they whipping him? Was it for the sexual act, or was it about when he insulted Pierre's mother? And also, when Hansi was telling Pierre about how they used to whip Loulou, I dunno. It was very confusing. Did they just mistreat him, or was it all just for the sexual pleasure in it?

he was some sort of sexual slave. you can also see that in his story with the butcher.

Where are you, Mount Everest? Give me some Everest.

He was the personal slave of Hansi. This had been arranged by Helene, the mother. Loulous was rich, and controlled a resort, but enjoyed submitting sexually. In many scenes you can see him serving Hansi, even by serving her oafish companion. So the whipping, though normally would have been sexual, is taken beyond the scope of sexy to make a point to pierre, to crush him if this scares him, to blow his mind. Hansi is trying to communicate what she has done, the extremes she has gone to, which she is not ashamed of, but knows crushes pierre, so she shows a coldness. The involvement of his mother in her sexual life is very confusing for her, as she had true feelings for pierre.
