do the mother and son have sex?

I am very interested in this movie, but am wondering if there is incest in it, because I don't really want to see that if there is. Just wondering.

they don't have penetrative sex but this film isn't really for the squemish infact it isn't really for anyone its diabolically bad.

reply

Diabolically bad? I wouldn't go handing out advice to people just because it didn't suit your tastes. A disturbing insight into a sexually perplexed family? YES. Diabolically bad? NO.

Yes there is incest (perhaps not as you imagine it, but i have no qualms to describe it a such). But that is the whole point of the movie, to confront this and other unusual sexual practices.

reply

What do you mean that they have sex "but not as you imagine it" What other ways are there? Also I could not understand the end. Did he kill her, and what is the scene in the morgue where he masturbates and says that he doesn't want to die? What is all that about? Please explain, diectly to [email protected]

SPOILER ALERT

I believe the phrase we are looking for is "manual relief".

I have not seen this, but want to....

For a better understanding, I would say read the book my Georges Batailles....

He also wrote Story of the Eye..... Very transgressive, sexually extreme.... Not everyones cup of tea.... But if you can handles extreme sex/perversion.... then by all means, seek him out.... He also wrote philosophy....

I wonder if the son had sex with his dad too when he was alive. hell, why not make it a whole family sex feast! incest? who cares! right?? disgusting movie.

reply

I think the whole thing is about making you, the viewer, confront yourself while watching the movie. the incest - real or not - is the whole point of the movie (or better said, one of the main points); as well as the masturbation scenes; the homosexual innuendo; him and his mom making up with the same woman at the same time.
I agree with the message that the masturbation scene at the end, in the funeral home, is a cry for life. The link between sex & life goes back millenia to the earliest religions.
Whether you like it or not at the end, the movie is worth seeing.

if incest is one of the main themes of the movie, why didn't the director/producer go all the way with the sex scene with the mother and son? would that have been too risqué?

Interesting analysis. I don't think it was obvious that she was maintaining that pretense in her head, though. Definitely not obvious, regardless of your comment to the poster above, but thank you for sharing this insight - the film now makes more sense to me! :)
