Impossible story, impenetrable script

As usual from Shinkai Makoto, the visuals are top notch.
There is no denying that the striking sceneries are amazing even for Japanese anime standards.
The magnificent visual poetry is undeniable and I could just stare at this film without dialogue and it would be 90 minutes well spent.

But oh boy, what was that all about?
The story is not only impossible, the dialogue makes it impenetrable.
Scenes were cut in unsatisfying manner and the scientific talk lost me.

I gave up trying to understand and just enjoyed the feeling and the look of the film.
I say it is still a splendid movie worth watching for the visuals alone, but I just want to ask: Is it worth repeat viewing?
If you found it more enlightening through watching it again I might give it another shot.

reply

Yes. I definitely found it easier to follow and more illuminating on my second watch. Since then, it's tied with 5 Centimeters Per Second as my favorite of Makoto Shinkai's work.

Can't stop the signal.

Thanks for the reply and recommendation, I'll catch it again sometime.
After all it's only 90 minutes long.

You are always a good sport on these anime-based films PreachCaleb.
See you around!
