Horribly Researched

The problem was that isn't what this area looks like. I live in Aspen Hill, less then a mile from the gas station where the Taxi driver was shot, and I live less then 5 mintues from Leisure World, 10 minutes from where the man mowing the lawn was shot, and all the others were just way off. It was horribly researched in the look of the area. They could have filmed around here and done a much better job. The colors for most of the things were way off.

Also, there are no damn trucks like they show in Aspen Hill. Across from the Gas station is Georgie Avenue, then Aspen Hill Shopping Center. To the other side, Aspen Hill road, then another gas station, and a Dunkin Donuts behind it. Looked nothing like my home town.

Leisure World doesn't look like that. There wasn't a brick wall, and where the man was shot mowing the lawn, there were no flags lined up like that I believe. Also, Conrad Johnson was alone on the bus before his run started, or so I thought. Plus it was earlier. I just wished they had actually made it look like the right areas.

Well, I wouldn't chalk it up to bad research... just a relatively low budget. It was a "Made for TV Movie" filmed up here in Vancouver, BC, because it's so much cheaper for American Production companies to film up here (because of the dollar). I have a lot of friends in your area, and you're right--all of them commented on how it didn't look at all like the area in DC and Virginia where it all took place. I was in the film--a small bit part--if you blink, you'll miss me.. hehe... but I myself got a good chuckle when I watched the movie and saw our "Save-On Foods" grocery store flash by (those are in BC only--hehe)... and the tall, sprawling evergreen trees native to the West Coast. But hey, at least they got the important stuff right, right?

The things you're nagging about aren't "horribly researched". There was no way the makers of the film could come to your neighborhood to get all the details right. Details, by the way, that aren't important to the story. When a kid is shooting people under the instructions of a guardian, the flags by the side of the road aren't really important, are they?
