Which Propaganda is better? (I have seen both)

On the left corner, weighting 340 pounds,
MICHAEL MOORE and Fahrenheit 9/11!

On the right corner, weighting a whole Noah's Ark,
WALT DISNEY PICTURES and America's Heart and Soul!

FIGHT!

Round 1: On destroying the definition of documentaries!
F911: Totally biased and arrogant, and clear on how it will
only show bad things about the Bush Administration and hope
to convince people that they are incompetent. Nothing has
been so subjective since "Bowling For Columbine".
AHS: Very biased as well, it portrays the glory of America
without ever mentioning its problems. The purpose that this
movie serves is very clear as well, but at least it appeals
innocently to everyone with an upbeat, positive tone.

Round 2: On portraying real people and emotions!
F911: The Michael Moore film lets the images speak on their
own account when he interviews wounded soldiers who do not
know why they sacrificed their lives, or the mother of a
dead soldier who wants her son back. The odd facial manics
of George W. Bush on TV or in a classroom on Sept.11 are
also nothing less than a kick in the stomach.
AHS: Here we follow courageous and extraordinary beings,
some of which had to go through very hard challenges to
make it where they are. However, we have so little time
to meet them that their portrayal is superficial, and
feels much more like a patriotic infomercial.

Round 3: On informing audiences relevantly!
F911: Some half-truths and manipulation of the images just
diminishes the impact of whether Fahrenheit is honest and
reliable on his numerous claims. However, some irrefutable
images, like Colin and Codoleezza clearly defining Iraq as
not being a menace back in 2001, opens our eyes.
AHS: The information in this movie might not be incendiary
or something to talk about, perhaps because of its very
positive nature, but at least everything is irrefutable.

Round 4: On trying to have an influence on the election!
F911: It shocks and makes people talk. The lineups and
the Palme D'Or, as well as all the people who speak
negatively about it, just makes its impact stronger.
Moore wisely puts himself on the poster holding hands
with George W. Bush to infuriate Republicans even more
(He is undeniably aware of the hatred towards him).
AHS: There shouldn't be a true correlation between this
movie and the upcoming election, but there undeniably
is since Disney refused to release Fahrenheit, and
the movie tries to counter-strike all the recent
documentaries of criticism and boycott (add in
Super Size Me and The Corporation). There is
not much to talk about after the viewing,
however, and the impact will be minimal.

Round 5: On carrying the truth!
F911: None of the facts have proved to be lies, but
the tone is exaggerated and the images are so often
cut off to mislead us into thinking differently.
The opening image of the Al Gore party in Florida
looks like he is celebrating his victory, but in
fact it was an early footage about his hopes to
win in that state. Simply manipulative.
AHS: Everything we see in this movie is true, in
the fact that people can follow their dreams and
make a difference in this country. It reminds us
of the freedoms and the values that make so many
of us proud to live here.

Round 6: On refusing to acknowledge important facts!
F911: Yes, all the good things about the Bush Admin.
are pretty much ignored and some facts that minimizes
the impact of shocking revelations. For example, the
big Saudi pipeline was introduced in the Clinton days.
However, an enumration of these important facts, if
we stay within the thesis of this film, would not
be that impressive. Indeed, those who hate F911
spend more time spitting on Moore than worrying
about showing how Bush actually did great things.
AHS: Also staying within the thesis of this film,
the list is massive: Racism, Crime, War, Greed,
Corporate Scandals, Destruction of Environment,
Unemployment, Poverty, Drugs, Elitism... We can
all agree that Fahrenheit is closer to the real
depiction of the world, despite its total lack
of optimism.

AND NOW THE FINAL ROUND LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!!!!!!

Round 7: On making the audience use their brain!
F911: So many questions that you want your government
to answer come to your mind after seeing it. It turns
simple people into political activists, and gives
pride and honor to those who do not fear facing
the facts and refuting the biased news.
AHS: Like visiting Walt Disney, it makes you live
in a dreamworld where everyone is a fantastic
individual capable of changing the world and
that whenever you encounter something bad,
you should close your eyes and move on.
This movie does not make you think, it
gives you a US flag and asks you to
mindlessly wave it.

THE WINNER: MICHAEL MOORE AND FAHRENHEIT 9/11
(I didn't say it... America said it at the Box-Office)

Get over yourself...No one here cares about seeing Michael Moore's ignorant documentary. In case you can't read, this board is for America's Heart and Soul not that piece of trash propaganda documentary. Go to THAT board.

reply

lol, if 9/11 is propaganda then what the hell is this. He openly admits he's biased, anyway what of the hart and sole of iraq (lower case i not eye-rak which is incorect), north korea or even nam.
Anyway I'll have to see this movie to 'BELIVE' it!

reply

Get over yourself, yourself, dcakes. Chugsthemonkey's account of F9/11 is hardly glowing. It's quite balanced and intelligent, actually. Go to the F9/11 board to 'spit on' Michael Moore.

Thanks for backing me up bro.

I guess he was a little pissed because you had to
read the whole thing to discover which side i was
leaning towards. Moderation tastes much better!

I'm not a citizen of the USA and amazed at the way the present government "governs" the USA. Where is that freedom you mention? In Iraq? I don't think so. In the USA? Where can I find it?

Moore's movie might be biased but at least it contains more truths than America's Heart and Soul.

'America's Heart and Soul' was promoted heavily by Disney and the idiots from a group called 'Move America Forward'. According to sources, Disney would have been happy with a box office gross of $10 million. It was deliberately placed and promoted in order to provide a counterbalance to 'Fahrenheit 9/11'. So lets' look at the figures, and see what America thought, as of todays date.

Fahrenheit 9/11
Released in US July, 2004
Total US Gross $98,356,000

Theaters Currently Playing the movie: 2004 (cute, that)

America's Heart and Soul
Released in US July 2, 2004
Total US Gross $311,572

Theaters Currently Playing the movie: 10

I think that is what right-wind redneck morons call 'a real ass-whuppin'

Truth, accuracy, influence are all subjective notions.

Popularity is objective, and Moore kicks butt. America's heart and soul is clearly with Moore.

Disney tried to initiate the battle, and they got beaten.
