So Upsetting...

It's sad that yet another media giant has chosen sides in the liberal/conservitive debate.

I know, Disney has always erred on the side of conservative ideals, but it would be nice (for once) for such a huge company to just show both points of view and let us plain folk figure it all out for ourselves.
Ditching 9/11 was a bad move for Disney.

Give us F-9/11 and America's Heart and Soul. Both are probably great docs (I have yet to watch either, but will).
Let the viewers decide whom is right (if either).

Let's just save the political wrangling for, uh, the political wranglers, and free up more time and $ for independent thought, no matter where it comes from.

As studio exec, I would be so proud to release these films back to back.
Look at it. Two films from two different directors with two different agendas.
It could be a producers dream.
Set two movies against each other in arthouses across America and see what happens.
It's like Starbucks opening up shop across the street from another Starbucks, or it could be like a large scale PBS, PBR (or WWF) experiment.
Anything to get people talking and debating (Which we need).

It's way better than finding out that more people voted for American Idol then they did for President.

As I said before, I have seen neither movie, but will, and I will probably enjoy both, and I look forward to seeing more of the American dialogue on the big screen.
Lets just hope that the companies that have the ability to educate the masses don't look back and censor their opinions to placate what they believe to be their audience.

So, 1 day after my last post, IMDB reports that Lions Gate (who stuck their necks out to release F 9/11) may lose DVD rights to Disney owned Buena Vista Home Entertainment.

That is so gross it's not even funny.
The award for best jumping off and on the wagon goes to Disney.

A few years back, Disney really impressed me by releasing "The Straight Story," a gutsy, independent movie by a great director.
Since then, I always thought twice before seeing a Disney produced movie (After many years of the word EVIL attached to it).

Maybe this will be good. Maybe they will forget about the bottom line...

I love to be proved wrong, and I hope that in the future Disney, (and it's affiliates), will look twice before ditching low budget movies and embrace the greater dichotomy of the movie going public before they decide to censor themselves.

This seems to be the future for the large scale movie producers.
The water may be cold, but just take a deep breath, and dive right in.

What are you talking about? This movie is not political. It celebrates the greatness of America. Why is that political? Why is this movie considered a mirror image of F-9/11? It is just about how wonderful the country we live in really is.

Are you admitting that Michael Moore's film really is un-American? Is that why Disney should have carried both F-9/11 and America's Heart and Soul? One is anti-American and one is pro-American?

If so, I agree. Which movie would you like to see most? If you said F-9/11 then...you might be a commie. Yes, a communist/socialist that doesn't like America being great.

Also, Michael Moore did not have Disney's backing BEFORE he even made the film. Why? Because Disney did not want to distribute a political movie (even one as plagued with lies and half-truths as F-9/11 is). They typically stay away from political movies...why wouldn't they? What does F-9/11 have to do with Mickey Mouse or a "good feeling" you would have after walking out of the theater?

Again, why would ANYONE actually believe that America's Heart and Soul is political just because it celebrates the greatness of living in this country?

Well, I guess if your politics are based on HATING someone like...oh, say...Bush

So basically what you're saying is that by Disney releasing a film that's made by somebody who obviously loves his country that they're promoting a Conservative agenda ? What the hell is wrong with you people ? What's so Conservative about loving your country ?

THIS IS NOT A MOVIE ABOUT POLITICS.

The whole "more people voted for American Idol than for President" statement is absurd.
1. Idol voters can vote as many times as they want
2. People younger than 18 can vote for Idol
3. If someone is stupid enough to think Idol is more important than politics, do we really want them voting for President?

But in reply to o.p.'s entire post, I echo the previous poster's sentiment - "America's Heart and Soul" is not a political movie.
